01 Scheduling & How It Works

The fastest way is to reach out to us via call or text at (812) 379-8583 — we typically reply within a few hours. (Call or Text) You can also fill out the quote form on this site and we'll get back to you within 1 business day. We are appointment only, so please don't drop in without booking first.

We work out of our shop at 5660 E County Road 800 N in Columbus. We don't offer mobile service — and that's intentional. A controlled shop environment means a cleaner, more precise installation. No wind, no weather, no rushing because we're working outside in unpredictable weather. We do offer pick-up and drop-off service — you can read more about it on our services page.

Every vehicle is different, so replacement times can vary. To ensure every installation is completed correctly and without being rushed, we ask that vehicles be dropped off the evening before the scheduled appointment. We will keep you informed throughout the process and let you know if the timeline differs from what was originally discussed.

Yes. We have a secure key drop box at the shop, and we typically have all customers use it — it's the most convenient process for everyone.

We take calls and texts Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Installations are scheduled Wednesday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, by appointment only.

02 The Work Itself

Generally, a chip under the size of a 50-cent piece or roughly 1½ inches / 38mm can be repaired. Location matters too — damage directly in the driver's line of sight or near the edge of the glass is harder to repair effectively. You can text us a photo of the damage for the fastest response, or just describe what you're seeing and we'll tell you straight whether repair is the right call or replacement makes more sense.

Honest answer — not always perfectly invisible. Resin injection restores structural integrity and significantly improves clarity, but a faint mark may remain depending on the damage type. The goal is to stop the crack from spreading and restore as much optical clarity as possible. We'll always tell you what to expect before we start.

OEM glass comes directly from your vehicle's original manufacturer. OEM-equivalent glass is made by a third-party supplier to the same safety specifications — same thickness, same curvature, same fit. We use both depending on availability and your preference. If your vehicle has specific requirements — cameras, sensors, heated glass — we make sure whatever glass we install is spec'd correctly for your car.

We use your VIN or license plate to identify the exact glass your vehicle was equipped with from the factory. Many vehicles have multiple glass options depending on features such as cameras, sensors, trim level, and production date. This information helps us provide an accurate quote and order the correct glass for your vehicle the first time.

A windshield repair is needed when your front windshield has a small crack or chip. We inject a high-quality professional resin into the damaged area before polishing to restore the glass to as close to its original form as possible.

A windshield replacement occurs when glass damage is too large to repair. We use OEM or OEM-equivalent materials and glass to make sure you get back on the road safe with no issues.

A recalibration follows a windshield replacement. We work with Voelz Body Shop to handle the recalibration process. This ensures advanced safety system features — like automatic emergency braking or lane-keep assist — all work as the vehicle manufacturer intended following your service.

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems — that's your lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and similar safety features. Many modern vehicles have a forward-facing camera mounted at the top of the windshield. When that windshield is replaced, the camera's alignment changes and the system needs to be recalibrated to work correctly.

If your vehicle has these features, recalibration isn't optional — it's a safety requirement. We handle this through our trusted local partner and make sure it's done correctly before your vehicle leaves.

We'll give you the exact safe drive-away time based on conditions the day of your service — typically it's around an hour, sometimes longer. The urethane adhesive needs time to cure properly before the glass reaches full structural strength. We don't hand keys back until it's ready.

Yes — and yes. Your windshield contributes to the structural rigidity of your vehicle and supports proper airbag deployment in a crash. A windshield that wasn't bonded correctly with the right urethane, or wasn't given enough cure time, can fail in an accident.

This is why we don't cut corners on materials, process, or cure time. Every installation is done by the owner — not a technician hired last week.

03 Insurance & Cost

It depends on your policy. If you have comprehensive coverage, windshield damage is typically covered — you'll be responsible for your deductible. Some customers find their deductible is lower than the cost of replacement, making insurance the right call. Others prefer to pay out of pocket to avoid any potential rate impact. We'll help you figure out which makes more sense for your situation.

No. Unlike some states, Indiana does not require insurance companies to waive your deductible on windshield claims. You'll need to review your policy or call your agent to find out what your out-of-pocket cost would be.

Possibly, depending on your insurer and your claims history. Comprehensive glass claims are generally considered "not at fault" and many insurers won't raise rates for a single claim — but it varies. We'd recommend calling your agent before filing to ask directly. We're happy to give you a cash quote so you can compare both options.

Yes. We work with a large portion of insurance companies and will try to make the process as seamless as possible for your entire replacement.

It varies by vehicle — make, model, year, and whether your car has ADAS cameras or other features built into the glass. Vehicles with heated windshields, rain sensors, or integrated cameras cost more than standard glass. The best way to get an accurate number is to fill out our quote form or text us your vehicle info.

04 About Ping Precision

David Ping — the owner. Every installation, every chip repair, every job that leaves this shop was done by the same person. There's no crew, no rotating technicians, no one learning on your car. When you book with us you know exactly who is doing the work.

At Ping Precision Auto Glass, every installation is personally handled by David. Because he's often working on vehicles, or assisting other customers, he isn't always able to answer the phone immediately. Our virtual assistant helps make sure every call is answered, basic questions are handled, and important information is collected so nothing falls through the cracks. This allows David to stay focused on delivering quality workmanship while still providing fast responses and personalized service.

Appointment-only is how we protect the quality of every job. We don't overbook, we don't rush, and we don't have a waiting room full of walk-ins pulling our attention away from the vehicle we're working on. Your appointment means your vehicle gets full focus start to finish.

Yes — a lifetime warranty on all workmanship. If an installation issue ever develops, we make it right. The warranty covers the work, not damage from external causes like new road debris or accidents. Full details are on our warranty page.

We're based in Columbus, Indiana and customers travel from across our area — including Greensburg, Seymour, Franklin, Greenwood, Edinburgh, Shelbyville, Hope, Brown County, and Bartholomew County. Our customers travel to us so we can perform the work in our shop environment, and we promise it's worth the drive.
